This was an exciting time for Oxford United, with a new era beginning at the Kassam Stadium. Sadly performances on the field continued to decline, with United narrowly avoiding relegation for a consecutive year.
Oxford's new beginning at the Kassam Stadium saw the introduction of a new kit supplier, TFG. Although relatively new to the scene, TFG quickly made inroads into professional football, having already supplied kits for clubs like Crystal Palace, Burnley, and Bristol City.
Buildbase, a building supply company with headquarters in Oxford, became the new shirt sponsor, marking the beginning of a nine-year partnership.
The Football League issued yet another variation of their competition sleeve patch.
These did not feature for the first game at the Kassam, and were affixed from match two.

There was a new club badge, designed by Rob Alderman. It incorporated Desmond Morris’s Minoan Bull, but with a darker shield-shaped background, which contrasted well on yellow shirts.
The trend for baggy metallic shirts continued, although thankfully this version was a lot more yellow than the previous season's muddy affair!
The team wore blue socks for the first ever (pre-season) match at the Kassam Stadium. Yellow socks became the official colours, however, from February these were usually replaced with navy, even when playing at home.

An all-white metallic change kit with yellow/blue piping was a popular addition. The use of the yellow/blue piping meant that there were many possible variations of colour combinations.
The white shirts enabled the sponsor's logo to be reproduced in the company's red and black colours.

During the pre-season leading up to their inaugural match at The Kassam Stadium, Oxford United wore the all-yellow variation of the 2000 kit.
For the very first ever game at The Kassam Stadium, the new TFG kit was seen for the first time.
The kit was paired with navy socks, however, yellow socks would feature for the main season. These particular navy socks would only ever featured in this one match, as navy socks with a yellow ankle band were provided for the league matches.
