Readers of a certain age will know that it was once a requirement to have your football shirt tucked inside your shorts. Around the mid-2000s, referees began to turn a blind eye, especially as manufacturers started producing shorter-length shirts. From this point onwards, all kits are illustrated with shirts outside of the shorts.

The Carlotti name evoked memories of Italian sportswear giants such as Fila or Diadora. Sadly, the reality was that Carlotti was a JD Sports brand.
Sponsors
For the very first time, the club had a second kit sponsor. ‘Debt Dr’ appeared on the rear of the shorts.
Football Conference Branding
Relegated from the Football League, Oxford’s kits now featured Nationwide Conference-issued numbers and competition patches.
Home Kit & Away Variations

The shirts were a slightly paler yellow than usual, paired with a much darker navy. The position of the club crest in the centre of the chest was a welcome variation.
The competition patches sat rather peculiarly high on the shoulder.
The Conference pioneered the use of sponsored sock ties. Lucky8’s name appeared on these unsightly plastic tags. Thankfully, their use proved short-lived.

The all-white change colours used a near-identical template to the yellow kits.

All match shirts were replaced after just three months due to player complaints about skin irritation caused by the thick embroidery and backing material on the back of the sponsor's logo.
This embroidered logo was smaller than in previous years, plus Carlotti had also used the wrong typeface for the lettering.
From November, replacement match shirts were introduced, featuring a larger, screen-printed version of the logo that also now used the correct typeface.

Prototype
An all-black prototype away shirt was proposed for consideration, utilising the same template as both the home kit and the eventual white away version. It’s a pity it wasn’t adopted, as it would have made a striking and stylish alternative.
Pre-season Kits
The pre-season began with the team wearing the old 'TFG' kit.
For the fixtures against Manchester United and Portsmouth, the new Carlotti kits were worn, complete with full Conference branding and player names and numbers.
